Pat the outside of the chicken breast dry with a paper towel.
Hold one piece of chicken with the palm of your hand and with a sharp knife, slice it horizontally, but don’t cut it all the way through.
Turn the chicken over and rub with olive oil. Then add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Repeat with the remaining 2 chicken breasts (see my post above for pictures on how to cut the chicken or watch my video).
Stuff chicken with pizza sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and red pepper flakes.
Close the chicken and secure the outer edge with toothpicks.
Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and set the timer for 18 minutes.
Add the chicken breasts to the air fryer and cook for 15 to 18 minutes until the chicken is done and has reached internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit (per USDA recommendations).
Once done, remove the chicken breasts from the air fryer and let rest for 5 minutes. Remove toothpicks. Then enjoy!
Notes
Storage And Reheating Instructions:
Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
To reheat, preheat the air fryer to 365 degrees Fahrenheit and heat for 2-3 minutes until warm throughout.
Pro Tips:
Cooking time varies depending on the size and type of chicken breast used. My chicken breast were about 1.5 inches thick.
The air fryer I used was the Instant Vortex Plus 6 quart.
Use chicken breasts that are all around the same size so they cook evenly.
Wet the toothpicks before use. I found this makes it easier to remove them after cooking the chicken breast.
