To a large bowl add the frozen hash browns, olive oil, melted butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Toss until well blended. The butter may harden a bit, and that’s okay. Make sure the frozen potatoes are well coated with the butter, oil, and seasoning mixture.
Add the shredded hash browns to the preheated air fryer in an even single layer. Gently shake the air fryer basket to ensure the hash browns are in an even layer of ½ inch thick. This is important so that they cook evenly and don’t get too crispy on the outer edges. Cook for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, open up the air fryer and flip the hash browns. You will need to flip the hash browns in sections. See my video or my process pictures in the article above if you need a visual.
Cook the hash browns for an additional 5 minutes until golden brown.
Remove the hash browns from the air fryer, let cool, then enjoy!

Pro Tips:
Preheat your air fryer for the best results. You should hear the frozen hash browns sizzle when you add them to the air fryer. Preheat your air fryer according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Make sure to cook the hash browns in an even layer that is ½ inch thick. This is to ensure even cooking and that the outside edges don’t overcook.
The air fryer used in this recipe was the Instant Vortex Plus 6 quart. Since all air fryer cooking differently and come in various sizes, you will need to adjust the cook time based on the air fryer you are using and your preference on how crispy you like your hash browns.
For extra crispy hash browns, cook for 1 to 2 minutes longer or until they have reached your desired crispiness.
