What To Serve With Pizza Roll Ups:
These pizza roll ups can be eaten alone, or you can add a side dish. Here are some ideas:
- Caesar Salad
- Spinach Salad
- Raw veggies like carrot sticks, broccoli, and cauliflower
- Pasta salad
- Fruit
Equipment Needed:
- Air Fryer
- Tongs
Ingredients:
- 8 Inch Flour Tortillas
- Pizza sauce - Use your favorite store-bought pizza sauce
- Pepperoni
- Mozzarella String Cheese
- Olive Oil - I use this to make the tortillas extra crispy. Avocado oil works great too.
Instructions:
1. Warm the tortillas: Stack the 4 tortillas onto a microwavable safe plate and place a damp paper towel on top. Microwave for 20 seconds until the tortillas are warm. You can also use a tortilla warmer if you have one.
2. Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and set the time for 5 minutes.
3. Cut the string cheese in half lengthwise.
4. Lay a tortilla flat and add about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce at the bottom. Add 5 pepperoni slices on top of the pizza sauce, then add the string cheese on top of the pepperoni, and roll all of the ingredients into a roll up. Repeat for each tortilla until you have 4 roll ups.
5. Brush the top of each roll up evenly with olive oil as this will add a little extra crispiness to the roll ups.
6. Add the pizza roll ups to the air fryer, seam down, add cook for 5 minutes or until the pizza roll ups are golden brown.
7. Carefully remove the pizza rolls ups from the air fryer, let cool, then enjoy! These taste great dipped in some pizza sauce.
Recipe Variations:
Try adding fillings like sliced olives, sliced banana peppers, or chopped ham. Just be sure not to add too much as this could make it hard to roll up the tortilla.
Storage and Reheating Instructions:
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
- To reheat, preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees Fahrenheit and heat pizza roll ups for 1-2 minutes.
Pro Tips:
- Warm up your tortillas before rolling them. This will make them easier to roll without cracking.
- Go easy on the pizza sauce. When assembling the pizza rolls, be sure to use no more than a tablespoon of pizza sauce on each roll up. If you use too much sauce it will just spill out of the tortilla.
- Be sure to let the pizza roll ups cool down before eating as they will be very hot when they first come out of the air fryer.
- Every air fryer is different so be sure to check for doneness halfway through. The air fryer I used to test this recipe was my Instant Vortex Plus 6 quart.

Sounds easy and delish! Can I bake them instead?
Thank you
Ivory
Absolutely! To bake, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Once the oven is heated, bake the pizza roll ups for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Sarah
Can you use different cheese like mozzarella instead of string cheese?
Ivory
Yes, that would work great 🙂
Sarah
OK thanks so much, probably will be making tonight and let you know how it turned out.
Ivory
Sounds good! You are welcome!
Maria
Hi can I prepare them ahead of time place in the frig until I'm ready to make them
Ivory
Yes, you can make these ahead of time. Assemble the pizza roll ups,(minus the olive oil), and refrigerate in an air tight container for up to two days (I use Ziploc bags). When you are ready to eat them, brush with olive oil and heat them in the air fryer at 375F for 5-6 minutes until warm and the outside is golden brown.
Audra
Would these freeze and reheat well?
Ivory
Yes, these freeze very well. To reheat, you will just need to cook them a couple minutes longer to ensure the inside gets heated.

Can't decide which is the family favorite - these rollups or your air fryer tortilla pizza! Both delicious and quick! I added a few mushrooms and onions to these the second time I made them, and they also turned out great! Thanks for the inspiration!
Alex
The only thing I would add ( but these sound good just the way you make them) is some diced onion. I found a long time ago that Pepperoni pizza tastes better to me with a few thin onion slices or diced onion. Try it on a one or two and if you don't like the onions then you've only "ruined" 1 or 2. I would suggest that the slices or dices be "sauteed" for about 3 minutes ( or maybe that could be done in the air fryer during preheating????)

I made these with a culinary group I run with a school and they were a hit, thank you so much!
Ivory
That's so awesome! You are welcome!
Pattie
Can I make these ahead of time and freeze them before I put them in the air fryer?
Ivory
Hi Pattie, freezing them is something I haven't tried yet. I will give it a try and let you know how they come out. Thanks so much for your question!
Ivory
Hello Pattie, these freeze very well! Just prepare them as noted in the recipe without cooking them. Place them in a freezer bag and freeze. Once you are ready to eat them, preheat the air fryer to 365 degrees F and cook for 8 to 10 minutes until browned and hot. I froze a batch over the weekend and had them for lunch today. They turned out great!
Bonnie
If they were cooked, then frozen...... could they be heated in the microwave, or would thy get soggy? Thinking about taking them camping, and do not have an oven or an air fryer.
Ivory
Hi Bonnie, I tested this out by freezing a batch and reheating them up in the microwave for 20 seconds at a time until they were hot. They came out slightly softer, still really good in my opinion. My family didn't notice a difference at all.

Tried these roll-ups tonight for a quick dinner. They were delish. I didn’t have any pepperoni (I will next time!) and I used whatever cheese I had on hand….they came out great! Loved the crunchiness of them. Definitely gonna do these again!
Ivory
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed them.
Shane
Okay, I'm obsessed with these. Pizza is my fave, so I'm always looking for other ways to incorporate more pizza into my diet. These are as simple to make as they are to eat. They're always in my regular rotation now. Thanks for the recipe!
Ciara
These are the best! So easy and I had the ingredients on hand. My kids loves these.
Shari
Hello. Do these freeze well?
Ivory
Yes, these freeze very well. Place in a freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months.
Beth
These were so easy and so good - thank you! I made four and after my husband ate his, though he didn’t say so I could tel he wanted more, so I made a couple more. They’re so easy it took no time, and was fun - kind of like crafting! With the Cosori Dual Blaze there’s no preheating or flipping so that made it even easier. Definitely on the list for snacks or a light dinner. Brilliant!
Kimberly
These are wonderful! I can’t wait to make them for my nephews this week. Thank you so much for the great idea. Your recipes are perfect for a busy family with toddlers!
