Why You Will Love This Recipe:
- It’s easy. This recipe calls for store bought crescent rolls, so the prep time is minimal.
- These are extremely delicious! Believe me, once you make these you won’t be able to eat just two. These are so good that you'll want to eat the whole batch!
- These are like a cross between cheesy garlic bread and buttery dinner rolls. What's not to love?
Q&A:
Sure! If you don't like garlic as much as I do, you can make these without the garlic.
Yep! Try adding cooked meats like bacon pieces, sausage crumbles, cooked chicken, or pepperoni.
Yep! See below for the oven instructions.
This recipe was developed using a preheated air fryer. If you do not preheat your air fryer, then you may have to increase the cook time by 1-2 minutes.
I don't recommend using parchment paper because it blocks the air flow at the bottom and the crescents might not cook properly on the bottom.
What To Serve With Cheesy Garlic Crescent Rolls?
These rolls work great as an appetizer, or you can serve them as a side dish. Here are some ideas on what to serve these with:
- Spaghetti
- Salad
- Soup
- Chili
- Stuffed Shells
- Pasta Salad
- Dipping sauces: Marinara sauce, pizza sauce, butter garlic sauce
Equipment Needed:
Air Fryer
Ingredients:
- Refrigerated Crescent Rolls Dough - I used store bought Pillsbury Crescents Rolls Original, but you can use whatever brand you prefer.
- Butter - I used unsalted butter
- Garlic - Fresh garlic, chopped into tiny pieces. You can use garlic powder if that’s all you have on hand, but fresh garlic will give you the best flavor for this recipe. I highly recommend using fresh garlic for the tastiest results.
- Italian Seasoning
- Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Air Fryer Instructions:
1. Start by brushing oil on top of the cooking tray inside the air fryer basket. This will help prevent sticking.
2. Preheat the air fryer to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and set the timer for 8 minutes.
3. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, chopped garlic, and Italian seasoning.
4. Open the crescent rolls and separate the triangles. Add a pinch of shredded mozzarella cheese to the widest part of the crescents. Roll the crescents. Pinch the ends together so that no cheese spills out. *Watch my video if you would like to see how I rolled my crescents.
5. Brush each crescent with the garlic butter mixture.
6. Add crescent rolls to the air fryer and cook for 7 to 8 minutes, until golden brown. Be sure to check on them halfway through.
7. Once done, remove the crescents from the air fryer by gently wiggling them out. Brush with additional melted butter, then enjoy!
Oven Instructions:
1. Start by preheating the oven according to the directions on the canned crescents package.
2. In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, garlic, and Italian seasoning.
3. Open the crescent rolls and separate the triangles.
4. Add a pinch of shredded mozzarella cheese to the widest part of the crescent. Roll the crescents. Pinch the ends together so that no cheese spills out.
5. Brush each crescent with the butter garlic mixture.
6. Add the crescent rolls to a baking sheet and bake for 9 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
7. Once done, remove from the oven. Brush with additional melted butter.
Recipe Variations:
- Try these with shredded cheddar cheese to make cheddar cheese stuffed garlic crescent rolls.
- Fresh garlic provides the best flavor in this recipe, but you can use ½ teaspoon garlic powder if that’s all you have on hand.
- Olive Oil - Feel free to use olive oil for the mixture if you do not want to use butter.
Leftovers Storage:
Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
How To Reheat Pillsbury Crescent Rolls:
Leftovers can be reheated in the microwave for 15 seconds at a time until warm. Don't microwave them for too long. You can also reheat these in the air fryer at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 to 4 minutes until warm.
Pro Tips:
- Make sure to brush cooking oil on the air fryer basket cooking tray before cooking your crescents to prevent sticking.
- Chop the garlic into really small pieces. Large chucks of garlic can taste bitter and spicy.
- Keep an eye on these. Don’t set it and forget it, these rolls cook fast! Start checking for doneness at the halfway mark.
- Once the crescents are done cooking you will need to remove them gently from the air fryer by giving them a little wiggle.
- Brush some additional melted butter on the crescents after they are done cooking.
- I tested this recipe using my Instant Vortex Plus and since all air fryers are different, you will need to make adjustments specific to the air fryer you are using.
