Q&A:
Yes, I used full fat cream cheese and sour cream but if you want to use reduced fat cream cheese or sour cream that would work as well.
Dippers for Pizza Dip:
I like to use tortilla chips or celery sticks for dipping in this pepperoni pizza dip. Here are some other ideas:
- Garlic toast
- Garlic bread
- Pita chips
- Breadsticks
- Carrot sticks
- Sliced bell peppers
- Celery Sticks
- Naan dippers
- Crackers
Equipment Needed:
- Air Fryer
- Air Fryer Safe Baking Dish
Ingredients:
- Cream Cheese - Needs to be softened cream cheese (let the cream cheese come to room temperature or follow the instructions on the packaging to microwave the cream cheese until soft). I used Philadelphia Cream Cheese.
- Sour cream - I used full fat cream cheese, but you can use reduced fat if you wish.
- Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
- Pizza Sauce-I used store bought pizza sauce.
- Pepperoni Slices
- Seasonings: Garlic Powder, Italian Seasoning
Air Fryer Instructions:
1. Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and set the timer for 7 minutes.
2. To a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, sour cream, and seasonings. Set aside.
3. To the bottom of a 1-quart baking dish, add pepperoni slices in a single layer. Then spread the cream cheese mixture on top. Then spread the pizza sauce on top.
4. Add another layer of pepperoni slices, then add the mozzarella cheese on top. Gently press down on mozzarella cheese to make sure it stays in place.
5. Add to air fryer and cook for 7 to 10 minutes until cheese has melted and bubbly.
6. Carefully remove the pizza dip from the air fryer (be sure to use oven mitts because it will be super hot). Let cool. Then enjoy!
Oven Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. To a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, sour cream, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder. Then set aside.
3. Assemble the dip: To a 9 inch pie dish, add a single layer of pepperoni slices to the bottom, then spread the cream cheese mixture on top, then spread on the pizza sauce, another single layer of pepperoni slices and then top with mozzarella cheese.
4. Add the pizza dip to the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the cheese has melted and is slightly browned.
5. Remove from oven and enjoy with tortilla chips, veggies, or bread.
Slow Cooker Instructions:
1. Place all ingredients into slow cooker and place the lid on top.
2. Cook on high for 1 hour or low for 2 to 3 hours. Be sure to stir every 30 minutes.
3. Once done, turn the slow cooker on the keep warm mode.
4. Enjoy with some veggies, chips, or breadsticks.
Make Ahead:
Assemble pizza dip as directed in recipe and store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Be sure to let the pizza dip come to room temperature before baking as cold baking dishes can crack if baked while cold.
Recipe Variations and Substitutions:
- Sour cream substitution - Plain Greek yogurt or cottage cheese make great substitutes for sour cream.
- Pizza Sauce - Marinara sauce works as well.
- Italian Seasoning Substitution - Dried Oregano works great too! Or if you don’t have either, just leave it out.
- Customize - This recipe is customizable, so go ahead and add your favorite pizza toppings. Try adding cooked sausage pieces, Italian sausage pieces, or cooked bacon crumbles. Black olives taste great too! Make it spicy by adding some crushed red peppers or jalapeños.
Storage and Reheating Instructions:
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
- To reheat, preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees Fahrenheit and heat for 5 to 6 minutes until warm. Leftovers can also be reheated in the microwave using a microwave safe dish. All baking dishes should be room temperature before reheating to avoid cracking.
Pro Tips:
- Make sure that the cream cheese is soften. Cold and hard cream cheese doesn’t mix well at all. You can let the cream cheese come to room temperature or soften cream cheese by removing all the packaging and microwave it for 10 seconds at a time until soft.
- Pepperoni slices under the cheese: My air fryer tends to blow pepperoni slices around, so I recommend putting the pepperoni slices under the cheese and not on top.
- I used my Instant Vortex Plus air fryer for this recipe. Since all air fryers are different, you may need to adjust this recipe slightly for your particular air fryer.
