What To Serve With Air Fryer Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls?
Equipment Needed:
- Air Fryer
Ingredients:
- Ground Beef - Traditional Philly Cheesesteaks are made with steak, but I chose to use ground beef for this recipe to keep it budget friendly. I used a 90/10 ground beef.
- Egg Roll Wraps - These can be found in the grocery store produce aisle.
- Green Bell Pepper
- Yellow Onion
- Shredded Provolone Cheese - I used a Provolone Mozzarella blend.
- Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder
- Olive Oil
- Water
Air Fryer Instructions:
1. Make the egg roll fillings: To a medium skillet, add the olive oil, ground beef, green bell pepper, yellow onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook over medium heat until the ground beef is no longer pink. Remove from heat and let cool.
2. Lay an egg roll wrapper flat and brush water on the outside edges.
3. Add 2 tablespoons of the ground beef mixture to the center of the egg roll wrap. Sprinkle with half a tablespoon of shredded provolone cheese.
4. Tightly fold the egg roll up by folding the bottom corner over the beef, then fold the outer left and right edges inward and complete the roll (see my video or my process pictures below if you need a visual). Repeat with the remaining 11 wraps.
5. Brush the egg rolls with olive oil on all sides.
6. Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit and set the timer for 10 minutes.
7. Add the egg rolls to the air fryer in a single layer and cook for 8 to 10 minutes until crispy. Flip them halfway through.
8. Once done, remove the egg rolls from the air fryer. Let cool, then enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.
Oven Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Prepare egg rolls as directed in recipe.
3. Place egg rolls on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until crispy. Flip halfway through for best results.
Make Ahead Method:
1. Prepare egg rolls as directed in the recipe, but do not brush with olive oil. Place uncooked egg rolls on a parchment paper lined sheet pan and cover tightly with plastic food wrap. Store in the refrigerator for one day.
2. Once you are ready to enjoy your egg rolls, brush the outsides with cooking oil and air fry for 10-12 minutes at 380 degrees Fahrenheit in a preheated air fryer. Flip the egg rolls halfway through.
Freezer Instructions:
1. Prepare egg rolls as directed in the recipe, but do not cook. Place egg rolls on a sheet pan in a single layer and place in the freezer until frozen, about 4 hours. Once frozen, place egg rolls in a freezer bag and store in the freezer for up to 6 months.
2. When you are ready to enjoy your egg rolls, cook them in a preheated air fryer of 375 F for 10-12 minutes until hot and golden brown. Flip the egg rolls halfway through the cooking process.
Recipe Variations And Substitutions:
- Olive oil - Avocado oil or melted butter can be used.
- Cheese - This recipe calls for Provolone cheese, but you can also use white American cheese or another cheese that you prefer.
- Meat - Thinly sliced ribeye steak or thinly sliced flank steak can be used instead of ground beef.
Storage And Reheating Instructions:
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- To reheat, preheat the air fryer to 360 degrees Fahrenheit and heat for 1-3 minutes until crispy.
Pro Tips:
- The air fryer I used was the Instant Vortex Plus 6 quart. Since all air fryers are different, you will need to adjust the cook time based on the air fryer you are using.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer. Cook in batches if needed. For the air fryer I used, I had to cook 2 batches of 6.
- This recipe is for 12 egg rolls, but can easily be cut in half if you need less.
- I used 90/10 ground beef for this recipe. If you use a less lean ground beef, then you will need to drain the extra grease from the beef after you cook it.

When uncooked and from the freezer do you still spray or put oil on them when you cook them?
Ivory
I add oil to mine before freezing so I don't spray any additional oil on them when I cook them from frozen.
